It is not difficult to understand why people cannot see the truth before their own faces, with their own two eyes.
We scoff at their inability to let it in, when it is so clear to anyone else. “Plain as the nose on their face.”
But when we take into consideration the filter of their understanding is muddied by the pain and suffering from their experience, it makes it ever more clear they simply cannot get to a truth that pain will not let them get to.
It simply does not exist to them.
So the answer is not to beat them with the facts; save them from themselves; or any other idiom, practical application, or wish for them…it is to simply allow them to be in their place where they are, as a choice of their direction and platitudes that support their comfort level within that work.
Their work, left to do.
Hold space with compassion and back away from any right or wrong scenario because it will not ever shift by force.
The only true measure of a person’s willingness to heal, is to admit the filter by which they choose to see is muddied, broken, or not even theirs by evidence or happenstance.
There the true healing begins.
How exciting it is to see someone come up for air of their own volition, with their own compassion, and a deeper desire to know themselves more.
For it is not one moment that awakens us, the proverbial lashing over the head to let the light in….it is in the slight cracks we make to our own rough exterior that allows the chips to fall where they may, and the “light of day”let in to warm our souls.
Peace, equanimity, and immense love to you each and all ❤️.
