Traffic, Delays & Patience

Driving in traffic this morning, I noticed a car that was driving very slow and backing up a bunch of other cars so nobody could get back in the flow. I noticed that if a car could get around that one car, it would find itself back in the flow again.

In that moment, it is easy to see that one car is the impediment we’re supposed to go around. And I started thinking about how many times have I been in traffic and I just couldn’t get around that one car, to save my life.

So it came to mind, there are two things that are happening:

  1. The impediment is temporary. You are meant to learn how to maneuver around that car and navigate the annoying display of pause.
  2. You are not meant to move around whatever impediment is there, because you are not meant to be in the flow at that moment.

If it is one car causing the impediment, it is easy enough to maneuver around and quickly be right back in the flow, happy in the moment again.

In the second situation, where no matter the circumstances you can’t get past the impediment… that is a moment for you to handle you: Whatever you’re going through, it is your issue with which to deal. Whatever is hitting you in frustration, disappointment, fear, anxiety, worry… those are all YOU.

It doesn’t matter what is going on to cause those things. It only matters that the impediment is so strong for the exact reason to give you time to deal with your own internal impediment; the things that are mentally or emotionally turning you around and upside down and making you not be in the flow on the regular.

So it is very simple: One, if it is temporary, ; if it is a little infraction if it’s a small delay, you could still see the road up ahead, and you still wanna be in that alignment, go. Go, do it, but if all of the factors involved are causing delay after delay or extended periods of time delay, then that is an exact reflection that you are to honor the delay.

So it is a matter of do you honor yourself or do you honor the delay, and I think that when you honor the delay, you are honoring yourself because it is a very big internal process to sit in something that you can do nothing about.

And the moment I have to laugh, the moment I get past a really quick short, small delay, and I’m back in the flow…It’s like the delay never happened, but man I can tell you every single, solitary delay that made me sit in my angst and face myself.

I can also tell you, in the second case, I am always better for it: I missed an accident I would’ve been in if I didn’t wait. I got there late when the person I was supposed to meet was actually running late as well.

So it is, like, are you wasting your time or are you using your time in value? Are you taking the time to be in the moment, or are you rushing past it?

This sounds like a lot of overthinking but when you start to connect the dots to your lessons, the ones that are being shown to you and the ones that you’re living, you can honestly start to assess who you are in each type of moment, as you know how you act in a very challenging situation…then you know you never have to be challenged again.

In fact, the only challenge you’ll ever have is you: if you can overcome yourself, you can overcome anything!

One other thing, just because you can get past one impediment that’s keeping you from your flow, doesn’t mean that you should sometimes think an impediment is the flow.

Just because you make it past one impediment does not mean the race is on.

Just because you’re in the flow doesn’t mean you need to race your way through the traffic.

The flow for alignment doesn’t mean you’re first; the flow to alignment does not mean you have to be a head of anyone else.

The flow in alignment is being in alignment with yourself so the outside environment supports that synchronicity.

Being first in traffic, being fastest on the road, have nothing to do with you being in your right place at the right time: It actually means you’re kind of being stupid rushing through life.

So take this in the vein in which it is intended. That being, know yourself better than you know anyone else. Be yourself in every environment and allow the environment to do what it’s gonna do without negatively affecting who you are, and where you’re headed. You can do that, truly only you can do that.

No matter what, slow or stop to be in the moment. Life will show you sooner or later, your calmest choice was the right one. You will never regret slowing down and taking life in. Not even in traffic.
